Four Angles on Jazz - Tuesday New Music Series @ Shaker and Vine.  Jim "Jimi Jazz" Prescott  has been tapped to inaugurate the New Jazz series at burgeoning jazz cafe Shaker and Vine (formerly Vino Vixens.)  Starting with a trio, each Tuesday will present an expanding concept of the meaning of jazz.

 

Bassist, producer and visionary, Jim "Jimi Jazz" Prescott resides in Portland Oregon and leads several groups that feature the hottest young jazz musicians in the area.  Writing for film and video, he provides direction and focus to all types of multi-media projects.



As a founding member of G. Love and Special Sauce, Prescott helped to create the band's unique sound with his string bass, combining the sounds of punk, funk, jazz, rock, hip hop and classical music.  After leaving the band in 2008 he has continued his study of jazz harmony and piano while delving into film and conceptual art in the vibrant Northwest scene.
